Bettws Hall Farms, has raised £1000 through its farm tours in April. Farming over 1200 Acres, the tours showcased 400 single suckle cows, along with its breeding stock of cattle and 800 NZ Highlander Ewes.

Based near Newtown, Bettws Hall welcomed the Powys Grassland Society and Radnor Young Farmers to tour their facilities. The tour covered all aspects of the operation, which became a Stabiliser Multiplier in 2018, and supplies beef cattle to ABP.

“A Stabiliser Multiplier is a breeder herd that produces purebred Stabiliser cattle from registered parents,” explained Gwyn Evans, founder of Bettws Hall. “These tours provided a great opportunity to showcase our Stabiliser herd and inform visitors about this efficient and low-maintenance breed.”

Developed in the 1970’s in Nebraska, USA, the breed comprises of a cross between Hereford, Angus, Simmental, and Gelbvieh, resulting in a highly efficient and low maintenance suckler cow.

After the tour concluded, guests were invited to the local Bull & Heifer pub for refreshments where donations were gratefully received. The funds raised will directly benefit Severn Hospice, a provider specialist care and support to families across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, and Mid Wales who are living with an incurable illness.

Nicky Green, from Severn Hospice's fundraising team, said: "It was lovely to spend the day with everyone from Bettws Hall Farms recently and it was wonderful to hear all about their farm tours.

"We are incredibly grateful for the money these tours raised and we are so touched by the kindness not only of the people who donated but also that of the staff at the farm. Learning more about the animals and seeing how the farm works was a great experience and I am already looking forward to my next visit.

"This generous donation will enable us to care for and support so many local people - thank you to everyone involved."
