A Private Appointment at Purdey: Inside the Mayfair Flagship Store & a Winter 26/27 Preview at Head Quarters

Jun 10, 2026

22 May, London

There are certain invitations that feel less like an appointment and more like an experience — and my recent private visit to Purdey’s flagship store and headquarters in Mayfair was exactly that.

Stepping into the heart of one of Britain’s most prestigious heritage brands offered a rare glimpse into the craftsmanship, tradition, and evolving style that continue to define Purdey today. From an intimate historical presentation to an exclusive preview of the Winter 26/27 collection, the day was a masterclass in understated luxury and timeless British design.

The Mayfair Flagship Experience

The visit began at the Purdey flagship store in Mayfair, where the atmosphere immediately reflected the brand’s deep-rooted heritage. Every detail within the space feels intentional — elegant yet relaxed, refined without ever feeling overstated.

The appointment opened with a fascinating historical talk that explored the origins of Purdey and its longstanding connection to British gun making craftsmanship, sporting culture, and tailoring. Hearing the historic stories about the building and the damage caused to it in the Blitz Bombing and also behind the design house gave greater meaning to the collections themselves; viewing the shotguns, luxury apparel and accessory feels connected to generations of tradition while still remaining relevant for the modern wardrobe.

Following the presentation, I was guided through the current Spring/Summer collection. The store beautifully showcased the season’s ready-to-wear pieces alongside a curated selection of accessories, all presented with Purdey’s signature balance of practicality and sophistication.

Behind the Scenes at Headquarters

After exploring the flagship store, the experience continued at Purdey Headquarters just down the road on still on Audley Street— an opportunity that felt genuinely special.

This part of the visit offered a behind-the-scenes perspective into the creative direction of the brand and an exclusive viewing of the upcoming Winter 26/27 collection.

Seeing a future collection before release is always exciting, but what made this preview particularly memorable was how cohesive and considered the range felt. The Winter 26/27 collection expanded on Purdey’s heritage while introducing subtle contemporary materials and influences that kept the designs feeling fresh and relevant.

What impressed me most was the consistency of identity across every piece. Even while evolving season after season, Purdey maintains a very clear point of view — one rooted in British heritage, craftsmanship, and timeless style rather than trend-driven fashion. The tailoring remained traditional yet wearable, with silhouettes that felt modern while still unmistakably Purdey.

Final Thoughts

The entire experience felt incredibly personal and thoughtfully curated. From the historical insight to the private collection previews, the visit offered far more than a standard retail appointment. It was an immersive introduction to the world of Purdey and the people, craftsmanship, and creative vision behind the brand.

Leaving Mayfair, I came away with an even greater appreciation for Purdey’s ability to honour tradition while continuing to evolve for a modern audience.

A truly memorable morning in London.
