Each month we will be giving you a little insight into the people (often) behind the scenes at Bettws Hall.
This month’s spotlight will feature Will Evans.
What is your role at Bettws Hall?
My role is quite diverse. Due to this being my family’s business, I have been heavily involved from a young age, meaning I have a good knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the business. With many years of keepering and rearing experience already behind me, it has set me in good stead for the position I’m in today. I oversee the Game Farm operation and that encompasses everything from selecting the best breeding stock to managing 41 rearing sites. When rearing season is over I head back to the shoots!
What are you currently working on?
Right now all my time is concentrated on selecting the best stock for the breeding season. This is an area I’ve invested a great deal of time and research into. It’s hugely important that we only have the finest quality breeding stock to produce the best birds for our customers and also for our own prestigious shoots.
What has been your highlight of working here?
Now and again I’m lucky enough to participate in market research, this has enabled me to travel to some amazing places and enjoy shooting at some fantastic estates across the globe. One of my highlights was a trip to Spain, partridge shooting with my father!
When not at work you can find me…
In the pub watching the rugby at this time of year; engaging in some friendly banter with my colleagues from over the border. Alternatively I’ll be out shooting or on the slopes.
What are 3 things you couldn’t live without?
Driving license, shot gun license and my dogs!
