Shooting at Maesmawr Hall

Maesmawr Hall

Neatly tucked away in the backwaters of Powys lies one of the most enchanting, if not the prettiest, Hall’s in the area. A warm welcomes awaits your arrival at the Hall where fresh coffee and biscuits are served in the reception room. The safety briefing is given and everyone prepares for the day ahead. Once pegs are drawn the shoot party proceed to the first drive, which is only moments away.

Maesmawr has a selection of great drives and will show a good mixture of high and testing birds ready to challenge all. Drives vary from woodland rides to wonderful open fields where all of the guns can see each other shooting as the pheasants glide over the line.

The mixture of steep wooded valleys and high gorsy banks together with hill top woodland makes this just the classic shooting estate. However this is no accident. Maesmawr Hall was laid out as a sporting estate in the early 19th Century and with the additions of strategically positioned game crops makes it a simply glorious place to shoot.

After three morning drives guests return to the Hall for lunch in the Dining Room. With views out over the lake and on to some of the drives, possibly shot that morning, there will be plenty to talk about!

Once lunch is finished it is back out onto the estate for one or two further drives in the afternoon around the estate.

Maesmawr will simply steal your heart even upon arrival. With a wonderful combination of great drives, hospitality and the setting; guests are sure to return year upon year.
