Very few people are lucky to receive an invitation to driven shooting and if you are one of those lucky individuals then you definitely want to accept it with both hands. If you wish to make the best out of the opportunity then there are a few important driven shooting start-up tips that you must be aware of. Here is a most useful guide on what you need to start driven shooting in the UK that will make you well prepared in advance:
Don’t leave the invitation of your guest unanswered. If you have decided to accept the invitation to driven shooting then don’t ever think of cancelling it, except in unavoidable circumstances. Cancelling an invitation will affect your reputation badly and you may not receive any further invitations from the same guests.
Once you have decided to give at least one try at shooting, get in touch with your guest to clarify your doubts. The questions mainly involve – is there any specific dress code you need to wear?, where will you be meeting?, do you need to bring your own food and more such generic questions.
When it comes to important aspects such as shooting kit, make sure you prepare yourself well in advance. You need to make a checklist of all the items involved required, so you won’t miss anything on shooting day. Service your shotgun and other important equipment in the kit such as hearing protection, cartridge bag, walking boots, gloves, coat, wellies and glasses.
Whether you are a novice shooter or an expert in the field, make sure that you attend couple of practice sessions in advance. This will allow you to get comfortable with your shooting instruments. If you find fault in any equipment you can fix it well ahead of your final shooting sessions.
Insurance is a very important thing that you will need before attending any shooting rounds. Get in touch with a professional in your locality and carefully read through all the terms and conditions that come with your insurance policy.
Before a shoot, brief yourself with specific rules such as signals given to load and unload the gun. Besides this, you also need to make yourself well acquainted with all the safety guidelines that must be followed at the shooting location.
If you have a friend who has done driven shooting before then ask him what kind of advice they have to make the most of your experience and have a highly successful shoot. He will also share things that you need to avoid at the shooting location in order to make best out of your time.
Above mentioned driven shooting start-up tips will definitely help you to face your upcoming shooting session with lot of confidence. These instructions will help to boost your performance so that you can make your shooting day one of the most memorable days of your life.
“Brigands should be a permanent fixture on any shoot calendar. It offers everything from the awesome surroundings to the spectacular drives – it is the stuff of legends!”

To The Bettws Hall team,
Thank you so much for making my day at Chargot so memorable. The attention to detail put into every aspect of the Bettws Hall experience is second to none.
A special thanks must go to the Chargot team; they really are faultless in every way. Jack hosting the day made it look effortless and the gamekeeper Dan and his team presented birds of the best quality that will be remembered for a very long time.
Last but not least at the Lodge, George and the Chef provided us with exceptional hospitality; great food and immaculate service.
Thank you all. See you next season.

“A trip to Bettws Hall is so much more than shooting quality birds. The excitement builds from the moment you pack your kit and the experience starts when you reach your destination in deepest darkest Wales. The two days we had with your team will stay in our memories for many a year. Vaynor Park never disappoints and once again provided quality quarry a plenty and we made the Brigands the next day even harder by handicapping ourselves with sizeable hangovers from the superb hospitality back at the pub then the lodges. It’s the shooting that brings you to Bettws but it’s always the fun we have over the two great days that brings us back every year. And long may that continue – Alex Keevil”

Further to meeting you this morning as we were leaving I just wanted to email and say how fantastic your accommodation is at Bettws Hall.
We were invited to a weekend Birthday, sadly we could only travel up on Sunday so our stay was all too brief.
As I mentioned we have a place in Cornwall which we let. We have 5 stars and a gold award with Visit England and we went on to win Gold at Cornwall Tourism Awards and then Gold at S W England regional awards for best self-catering property…. That said I think your property –The Willows – is absolutely fabulous and very well equipped. It was an absolute delight to stay and we will not hesitate in recommending what you offer to our guests if they want a change from Cornwall as that part of Wales and getting there is such a treat in itself.
The location is also so very beautiful and getting there from Cornwall was less of a drive than I expected it to be. We had such wonderful scenery coming up through Wales and again on our return..
Thank you so much again for your welcome and hospitality and indeed for all the attention to detail that makes your place special and so enjoyable for your guests.
With best wishes, Stephen Chidgey

”Well what can I say…… Absolutely first class in every aspect of the day.
First time for me with Bettws Hall and it certainly won’t be the last. Stunning landscape and truly first class pheasants…. one I’ll certainly remember for the rest of my life. An amazing day from start to finish so a big thank you to all on the Bettws Hall team especially Richard Crofts and the head keeper. It wasn’t an easy day for them but they delivered in every area. If you consider yourself a serious High bird shooter then Bettws Hall especially the Brigands is an absolute must!!!”
