Shropshire's most iconic high bird shoot has been part of the Bettws Hall group for over 20 years. Not far from Bishop's Castle in the rolling border countryside, the Kempton Estate lies in 5,000 acres of prime shooting country.

As you turn off the country lane onto the shoot, the driveway climbs and curves up through the estate to over 1000ft. The shoot lodge sits at the top, in a commanding position, overlooking some of the most exceptional drives in the county.

Leaving the lodge for the first drive, our guests can see a great deal of the landscape that makes up this wonderful shoot as they work their way down the network of estate tracks into the valley bottom. A popular drive to start the day would be Bracken Bank where the morning sun catches the hilltop beautifully and with the use of a long strip of cover crop, our skilled team flush the birds according to the wind and blanket the gun line with a flow of towering birds.

The variety of shooting at Kempton makes for an exciting days sport. Partridges burst over the gun line on most of the drives here, whilst the pheasants seem to stand on their tails as they cross the deep valleys. This special shooting estate has a strong local following and also enjoys a number of visitors from the rest of the UK and abroad.
