Last but certainly not least in our Estate Essentials series is Vaynor Park. Last season was a great success so therefore we will follow the same recipe, with a few small tweaks for 2018/19.
We wanted to try and improve the longevity of some drives and as we have roughly the same amount of cover in place, we have had to alter what is where. To do this we have used more kale than usual, which this year of all years was probably a bad decision. But, we got it in early and by large, they are looking good and are going from strength to strength now that the famous welsh rain has resumed normal service.
Although we have no new drives, our teams certainly won’t be bored as all of the usual steadfast and phenominal favourites are still on the menu, such as Coed Tafol and Kennel Wood.
Returning Guns will notice a few subtle changes, mainly at The Dams where some careful woodland thinning has taken place. We are hoping this will encourage the birds here to come from higher up the bank, given the now lack of cover at its base. This coupled with Andrew, the Head Keeper’s, very smart stone bridge on the top pool, gives the drive a lick of paint so to speak.
Whilst our diary has looked full for a long while, we do still have one or two Individual Pegs available for this coming season, view here. Please drop Jack Axtell a line if one or two of the dates suit your diary – firstname.lastname@example.org
We have had a great release and the owners & keepers have certainly put in the hours to keep the estate all cherish in good order and full of healthy looking game. We very much look forward to seeing you this season.
