ESTATE ESSENTIALS; Going forward each month we’ll bring you a little information on each estate; what makes it individual and a sneak preview of what the forthcoming season holds.
We’re starting of with Chargot, our West Country beauty. Based on the eastern side of Exmoor and shooting over 25 drives it’s a magical estate which see’s guests returning year after year to experience it’s challenging birds and warm hospitality.
Jack Axtell, Chargot Estate Manager updates us on what we can expect for next season;
‘’Last season saw the re-launch of the new and improved ‘’Barelands’’ which tested many an experienced Chargot shot and with further tweaks over the summer it will be one to look out for next season.
Drives such as ”Black Adder” and ”Magic Coombe” have a schedule of summer work planned, looking at cover crops, tree clearing and gun stands to ensure they are fully maximised for the enjoyment of the guns, showing the most testing birds possible and all with easier access.
I’m most looking forward to the potential return of a drive called ”Amsterdam” for next season, it is a summer project driven by the Forestry Commission clearing out the sitka spruces within the valley. It looks like it will be a drive to look out for.’’
