Gwyn founded the company in the late 1980's. Diversifying from farming, he formed the Bettws Hall Shoot and hatched chicks to supply it. With hard work, dedication and a passion for shooting, the company established itself as a front runner in the game industry.
Over two decades G & A Leisure Ltd has built up a wide portfolio of interests and enjoys a reputation for innovation and quality. Gwyn hosts teams throughout the season and enjoys catching up with familiar faces as well as meeting new guests. Days with Gwyn are both relaxed and very sociable. He has a seasoned knowledge of the estates and will always strive to present the most glorious birds.
Ann and Gwyn have worked together from the start and she has had a huge impact in the shape and growth of the firm. At Director level, Ann has an invaluable contribution to the general direction of the company and her detailed knowledge of all departments helps significantly in the organisation. Her superb cooking and love for entertaining was part of the success story at the beginning and still is today.
Among several other roles, Ann oversees the catering in all areas from our pub restaurant and accommodation lodges through to the catering for shoot days and events. Ann has years of experience hatching pheasant and partridge chicks and is heavily involved in this sector of the business, working with the hatchery team to make sure the process runs smoothly.
Amy has played an integral part in the development of the company from a young age and since finishing her University studies has taken up the role of sales manager as well as looking after events and marketing. Amy is currently overseeing the launch of our World Wide portfolio of exclusive destinations and is in the process of organising forthcoming events and shows both nationally and internationally.
Will has worked with game rearing and shooting since the earliest opportunity and has grown with the company into a hugely valuable member of the team. With past experience in all areas of the business, he has now moved from Underkeeper at Gregynog Hall to Headkeeper at The Brigands.
Will maintains a strong interest in the development of our pheasant and partridge breeding stock and has recently travelled to the USA and Europe in search of strains and bloodlines to improve our breeding stock for both our own shoots and for our clients.
Andrew joined Bettws Hall as Finance Director at the start of November 2014 having spent the previous 25 years working in a wide variety of financial roles within local businesses to gain a wealth of experience which Andrew is now looking forward to bringing into the company.
Living locally, Andrew has seen how G&A Leisure have grown over the last 25 years into one of the premier countryside businesses in the UK and looks forward to supporting the company with their continuing success.
In Andrew's spare time, he enjoys most sports and now looks forward to learning new countryside sports as and when the opportunities arise!
Richard joined the company in 2008, originally in the shooting department to help with the sales and hosting of shoot days. Focus was mostly given to roving guns and he soon established a thriving individual gun syndicate to complement our team days.
Since 2009, Richard has been in charge of all game farm sales for our pheasant and partridge chicks as well as our poults; doubling the size of our annual hatch and looking after existing and new customers in the UK and Ireland. More recently Richard has taken on the role of Sales Director and you will likely find him hosting throughout the season with his handsome Labrador.
Having keepered at Molland for many years and gained a reputation for running an exceptional shoot, it was a logical step for Caleb to take over the management of all three of our West Country venues. Caleb is a hands on manager and is active throughout the year in the continued development of the estates and the rearing of birds.
Caleb is also a keen fisherman and has been instrumental in helping to select our World Wide partner in Iceland.
Sporting Office – Team Days
Phil joined Bettws Hall at the start of 2013 after his time at the Royal Agricultural College. Phil grew up in Hampshire and has been an avid sportsman from a young age, taking a special interest in pheasant and partridge shooting and deer stalking.
Initially Phil has worked in the Stock Sales department as well as in our contract rearing department.Phil has now settled in the shooting department with focus on team days at our estates in both Wales and the West Country and has also been instrumental in setting up our UK stalking arm of our World Wide operation.
Sporting Office - Roving Syndicate
Jack joined Bettws Hall within a Trainee Management position. After spending five months getting to know various aspects of the company, Jack turned his hand to hosting and his main focus is now on the roving syndicate days that we offer. These days are offered as an alternative to taking a full team day and are spread throughout the season with varying bag sizes, across each of our estates. They can be taken as an individual or as a small group of friends.
Jack grew up in Suffolk, he went to Harper Adams University and took a year out to work as a Gillie in Scotland. He has always taken a keen interest in field sports, in particular deer stalking and working his dogs Archie and Purdey. You will always know when Jack is around due to his awesome booming laugh.
Tracey has been with the company for a number of years and her knowledge of hatching pheasant chicks and partridge chicks is a real asset to the operation. Tracey oversees the entire process from receiving the eggs from the laying fields, through to setting, incubation, hatching, grading and transportation. Meticulous attention to detail is required for this job and Tracey excels at it!
Stock Sales and Logistics
Clara joined Bettws Hall in 2013 to assist in the game farm office through the busy hatching and rearing season.
Possibly the most personable and charming individual you could meet, her vivacious character lifts everybody’s spirit. During shoot season, Clara is generally out in the field assisting on shoot days and ensuring everyone is well looked after. As shoot season draws to a close and the hatchery springs to life again, Clara assists with the logistics, invoicing and administration for all Stock and Sales.
Sporting Office co-ordinator
Georgina joined Bettws Hall in the summer of 2017 after graduating from Harper Adams University. It was during her time there that she spent her placement year on a private estate in Mid-Wales, and her love for the area was founded. Based in the sporting office Georgina assists with the necessary administration to ensure the smooth running of your days with us and her attention to detail is second to none.
Originally from Derbyshire, Georgina enjoys her time in the Peak District, riding, hunting and walking her two dogs Rosie and Poppy.
Anne has been the face to meet, greet and look after all of our guests staying at our Sporting lodges for many years now. Attention to detail, pride in her work and incredible enthusiasm has endeared returning guests year after year, who look forward to be looked after by Ann as if the lodges are a home away from home.
Marketing & Retail Manager
Amy joined Bettws Hall in May 2016 after returning to Mid Wales following many years of living and working abroad.
A keen country woman, Amy often spends her free time hunting and fishing. She brings with her not only this love for country pursuits but many years marketing experience, from working with some of the world’s most premium brands. Amy attended Harper Adams University College where she obtained her degree in Business Management and Marketing. This foundation coupled with her luxury marketing knowledge are a perfect compliment for Bettws Hall.
Having lived in the area all his life and spending his high school years with Gwyn, Jason joined Bettws Hall in 2005 after a career in the food manufacturing industry where he gained a NEBOSH general certificate in health & safety.
Jason joined as a Health & Safety advisor and is also responsible for Human Resources and is Payroll Administrator.
Will has been working closely with Bettws Hall for several years and has recently joined us to run our growing ATV dealership for Kawasaki Mules. His strong interpersonal skills and enthusiasm for shooting and agriculture link well in this role and he certainly shares our attitude towards attention to details and quality personal service.
Will has worked in the Shropshire and Mid Wales area dealing with farmers and shoot managers for decades. This has enabled him to make sure we are looking after the individual needs of our wide customer base.
